I LOOK AT THE WORLD AS A HIDDEN OBJECT AND WONDER WHAT IT IS COMPOSED OF.
Christina Pfrötschner
Christina Pfrötschner  graduated as a theater director from the Academie voor theater en danse (NL) in 2022 and was a scholarship holder of the Musikakademie Heute in 2016-2019. Her graduation piece was nominated for the EINDWERKPRIJS 22 and invited to the INTERNATIONAL THEATRE FESTIVAL KENYA in Nairobi. She lives and works as a director and video artist in Amsterdam.
Pfrötschner develops works at the interface of text theatre, music and installation that have a political dimension and a documentary approach. Her 'Poetical in yer face theater' investigates with a kaleidoscopic gaze and through radical questioning notions and social systems, and aims to provoke a new perception of what normality has made invisible.

I call my theater POETICAL IN YER FACE THEATER
How I see it: Poetical in yer face theater is playful , existential and dialectical. It is sincerely radical but not shocking per se. It creates a parallel universe of possibilities - in other words: possibilities of being human.
I believe strongly in theater which uses an open style to present existential questions directly to the audience. Where people can (internal) debate about their role in society in both an artistic and intellectual way. A theater which does not declare an opinion, but empowers each audience member to be the author of their own thoughts instead of a common assumption.
I don’t want to live in a world of silent acceptance, of empty resistance, of cold coexistence, of a comfortable overstimulation. A world which bounces between ecstasy and asceticism, between aggression and depression.  A world which treats the symptoms only rather than the origin of it.
And why? All because we are totally lost by being able looking in someone’s eyes - purely, sincerely,  connected and daring to ask WHY?
